Implied Probability in Horse Racing is part of Racing Tipster Radar's evidence-first guide to paid and free horse-racing tipping services. Our aim is not to promise winners. It is to help readers understand what a service says it offers, what evidence is available, and which questions still need answering before money is committed.

Implied Probability in Horse Racing

Implied probability converts odds into the chance represented by that price.

Decimal odds: implied probability = 1 ÷ decimal odds × 100

Examples

2.00 corresponds to 50%; 4.00 corresponds to 25%; 5.00 corresponds to 20%. Fractional odds can first be converted to decimal by dividing the numerator by the denominator and adding 1.

Bookmaker margin

Across a complete market, implied probabilities usually add to more than 100% because bookmaker margin is built into prices. That is why a raw odds conversion is not automatically a true probability estimate.

Research standard

Performance claims require evidence. Useful background sources include the UK Gambling Commission's safer-gambling guidance, ASA/CAP gambling and tipster advertising guidance, and structured third-party tip records where methodology is visible. Commercial terms should always be checked on the live merchant checkout.
